I loved this book! It was such a sweet romance story between two men having both suffered physical abuse in some point in their lives, and coming together with both respect, kindness, and blossoming into love.Escaping from a three-year abusive relationship, 22-year-old Aiden moves across country alone. Desperate for a job, and loving the stage from theater productions in school, he interviews for a position as a stripper at Nocturne strip club. Years of abuse have made him wary, anxious, and shy around people, but up on stage, his passion shines through and he becomes a different person- relaxing and making the performance his own.Axel works security at Nocturne. Tall, muscled, and intimidating, he takes his job seriously to prevent fights, remove troublemakers, and ensure the safety of his friends and coworkers, who are like family to him. When one of his coworkers was drunk and put a tiara on his head and proclaimed him 'glamorous,' he was nicknamed Glam, and it stuck, much to his annoyance. Behind his stern outlook and mama bear protectiveness, is a kind and considerate man who naturally looks out for those around him. Having suffered abuse from alcoholic parents when he was young defending and raising his four sisters, he recognizes signs of abuse when he sees it. And sensing it from Aiden sets off all his protective instincts.I love the chemistry between Axel and Aiden. There's tension at first with Aiden's skittishness around him, but Axel's caring and considerate ways break down those walls and they become friends before heating up into more. The relationship feels very realistic and believable between the two. There are lots of little signs throughout that speak to the abuse that both men have experienced and learned from rather than simply telling readers it happened and not really show any of it's aftereffects, making it feel more real. The more you read, the more you want the happy ending that these two beautiful souls deserve.“I’ve spent the past three years with a terrible, awful, violent person who ran my life with his words and his fists.
